The Center for Green Urbanism, LLC – a green business incubator

While searching for office space in downtown Ward 7 , city-dwellers and co-founders Dennis and Zandra Chestnut came upon an old building formerly used as a residential/commercial space.  They turned it into a green business incubator.

What is a green business incubator?
Always looking for ways to decrease their carbon footprints, the Center offers temporary and long-term office space at affordable rates. Tenants share offices with the amenities of a professional environment including Wi-Fi, copying and fax capabilities. A large space (see below) is also utilized for conferences, meetings, classes, and special events. Please use our Event Registration Form if you are interested in becoming a tenant or renting out the large space. Feel free to e-mail or call us with any questions.

How is the Center green?
As stated in its’ motto, The Center for Green Urbanism is where urban meets nature. Here, urbanism is defined as “The culture or way of life of city dwellers”.

In re-designing the interior and exterior spaces of the Center chose environmentally safe materials and products.  Always looking to lessen its carbon footprint, the Center uses minimal energy with Energy Star appliances  and CFL light bulbs. Water is saved with low-flow devices on the toilets and sinks. Also, rain barrels to collect water which is used to water the plants as well as flower and vegetable garden. Walls were painted with low/no paints, furniture was made of recycled material or revamped with recycled fabrics and coverings.

Where is the Tubman-Mahan Gallery?
